Safety

Mixed Martial Arts is the ultimate contact sport that requires a great deal of dedication and practice. In the past, the traditional gi uniform offered a certain measure of protection from contacting most skin infections. Today, fighters typically train and compete bare chested in board shorts, drastically increasing the danger of contacting skin infections such as Staphylococcus, Herpes, Ring Worm, and athletes foot.
We take these risks very seriously and spare no expense in keeping a sanitary environment. We use special mat cleaner, designed specifically for gyms where these risks are higher than typical environments. It kills HIV, HCV & HBV is virucidal, fungicidal and eliminates odor causing bacteria on surfaces/objects previously soiled with blood or fluids, and is also effective against Trichophyton mentagrophytes (a cause of ringworm).

***Warning***

Some gym owners/trainers mistakingly think it is a benefit to train with no air conditioning in a hot environment. However, doing so creates a virtual pitri dish for viruses, bacteria and fungus. Fighters desiring to train in the heat, should only do so outdoors where these specific risks aren’t an issue.

What is MRSA?

Staphylococcus aureus is a species of bacterium commonly found on the skin and/or in the noses of healthy people. Although it is usually harmless at these sites, it may occasionally get into the body (eg through breaks in the skin such as abrasions, cuts, wounds, surgical incisions or indwelling catheters) and cause infections. These infections may be mild (eg pimples or boils) or serious (eg infection of the bloodstream, bones or joints).

MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, which is a type of Staphylococcus aureus that is resistant to the antibacterial activity of methicillin and other related antibiotics of the penicillin class.
